Infinity Ward are giving everyone a chance to try out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from Friday, 23 August to Sunday, 25 August 2019. You'll be able to play the brand new Gunfight 2v2 mode in a completely open Modern Warfare alpha test.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the most anticipated games of the year and Infinity Ward have kept the hype train at the maximum speed with new gameplay footage and details about the multiplayer and campaign.
However, the devs are planning to take an extra step and host an open alpha test to allow players to experience Call of Duty: Modern Warfare before the launch. The alpha will be available only on PlayStation 4 which is something that will almost certainly disappoint PC and Xbox One players.
Fortunately for PlayStation 4 owners, the alpha will be completely open, meaning that you won't need PlayStation Plus subscription to play it. You only need an internet connection and you are set for Gunfight.
Speaking about Gunfight, it's a brand new, 2v2 mode in Call of Duty series. It takes place on tiny, hand-crafted maps and we already got to see a ton of gameplay from Infinity Ward and various YouTubers.
Back to the alpha. The test will officially start on Friday, 23 August at 10:00 AM PT / 7:00 PM CET and will run until Sunday, 25 August 2019. Infinity Ward also mention that players will be able to pre-load the game to have everything up and ready once the test goes live. The pre-load will start on Thursday, 22 August at 10:00 AM PT / 7:00 PM CET.
Players will be able to play Gunfight on four maps including two brand new maps, which we didn't get to see in the earlier gameplay footage. The maps include Docks, King Pine, Speedball and Stack.
Unfortunately, Modern Warfare alpha won't feature any other modes which is a real shame as many players would certainly appreciate the opportunity to test themselves in 20v20 mode.
However, Infinity Ward are probably keeping this one under the wraps until the official beta test, which is coming next month.
