The Pokemon Company officially revealed that Pokemon Go has been downloaded a staggering one billion times on Android and iOS since its release three years ago. The figure is mentioned in one of the company's latest TV spots for the game.

Remember the worldwide phenomenon named Pokemon Go in mid-2016? An augmented reality mobile game by Niantic and The Pokemon Company that attracted young and old, gamers and those who never even played popular mobile titles like Flappy Bird has been a massive success for the Pokemon franchise.

While the hype level is nowhere near 2016's, it's safe to say that Pokemon Go is still one of the most popular games in the world and the most popular game on mobile.

The latest numbers from The Pokemon Company prove this and show just how big Pokemon Go has become since its release three years ago. According to the company, Pokemon Go has been downloaded more than 1 billion times on Android and iOS.

The staggering achievement has been revealed a bit silently, in one of the company's latest TV spots for Pokemon Go in Japan. The TV spot has been shared on Pokemon Go's official YouTube channel but unfortunately, we don't know exactly which one it is since there are several new videos, all in Japanese. However, according to Nintendo Everything, who shared all TV spots, the number is mentioned in one of them.

In 2016, Pokemon Go managed to reach over 500 million downloads, which means that the game recorded approximately 250 million downloads each year since.

According to the earlier report by Sensor Tower, Pokemon Go has grossed an estimated $2.65 billion worldwide across the App Store and Google Play since its release. Furthermore, the game is well on track to cross the $3 billion line by the end of 2019.

Pokemon Go also continues to be a top earner across the app stores, ranking in the top ten among all apps for worldwide revenue in June 2019.
