Avalanche Studios have released another update for their post-apocalyptic shooter Rage 2. The update introduces New Game Plus feature, Ultra Nightmare difficulty and Ironman mode. Also, there's a new voice pack featuring B.J. Blazkowicz.

Rage 2, Avalanche's fast-paced shooter did not start as well as the developer hoped. With mediocre reviews on Steam, Rage 2 was a mild disappointment but the studio are working hard to add more content to the game and hopefully make it a bit more enjoyable, especially its empty world.

Today, Rage 2 received another major update. It's live right now on all platforms and it introduces New Game Plus mode and a lot of other features such as new difficulty mode, voice pack and various improvements.

If you're unfamiliar with the term, New Game Plus basically allows you to re-play the game from the start but with all the weapons, gear and skills you obtained in your earlier playthrough.

The update also adds Ultra Nightmare Mode difficulty for those who found the regular Nightmare mode too easy. Also, as an ultimate hardcore mode, Avalanche have Ironman mode in place. This mode gives the player a single life and deletes the save files after you die. A proper, old-school challenge, even for the bravest players.

There are also some new cheat codes - Dash Ragdoll and Super Knockback - as well as new voice pack which adds Wolfenstein's protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz to the game. Avalanche also added a couple of new weapon skins but we're yet to see how these look as patch notes aren't out yet.

On the technical side of the latest update, Avalanche have a couple of notable improvements and quality of life additions. First, you can now disable tutorials and intro dialogue if you want, and pop-ups will no longer pause the game. The flashlight has been added to help you in the dark environment.

There's also a camera deadzone slider and bug fixes, but again, we'll have to wait for the patch notes to take a closer look at these.
