Spawn is set to appear in NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat 11, and earlier this week, the character's creator Todd McFarlane shared new details about Spawn appearance in the brutal fighter. Unfortunately, he did not mention the release date.

Mortal Kombat 11 is set to introduce several DLC characters in the near future. NetheRealm already confirmed that Nightwolf, Sindel, and Spawn will join Shang Tsung and Shao Khan, who was available as a pre-order bait.

Mortal Kombat 11 Creative Director Ed Boon already teased Sindel and Nightwold on his Twitter, but not a lot has been said about a comic book superhero Spawn. Of course, this doesn't mean that Spawn has been all but forgotten.

Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn shed some light the collaboration with NetherRealm and the inclusion of Spawn in the gory fighter series. In an interview on San Diego Comic-Con 2019, McFarlane revealed his conditions to include Spawn in Mortal Kombat 11.

First and foremost, McFarlane wants those who wouldn't know Spawn from comic books but love Mortal Kombat to seriously like his character. "I would be proud if someone downloads this character at some point, doesn't even know who it is but he goes: I don't know, is his name Prown or Spam or something? - but he's my favourite character," McFarlane expained his one and only condition for Spawn appearance in Mortal Kombat 11.

Spawn creator also went on to say that his only comment on the matter would be that NetherRealm "didn't get crazy enough" with Spawn, no matter how brutal they make him. "You say that to a bunch of 25-year-old developers, wow, you get some good stuff back," he said.

Furthermore, NetherRealm did a really good job of communicating with McFarlane on Spawn's dialogue, design, abilities and fatalities, so everything fits nicely into his character.

Unfortunately, Spawn and other confirmed characters are yet to get release dates, which some players find a bit annoying, especially with the continuous teases from Ed Boon.
