Recently, a Reddit user claimed that the original Red Dead Redemption is getting a remake and will release on PC. He also said that DLC with aliens is in the works for Red Dead Redemption 2. However, this couldn't be further from the truth.
Earlier this week, a Reddit rumour spread like a wildfire all over the internet, claiming that Rockstar Games are working on some exciting new Red Dead Redemption content.
According to a Reddit user who goes by the name of throwaway11113454, a friend, who is an environment artist at Rockstar has confirmed that the publisher are working on a remake of the original Red Dead Redemption and a DLC for the sequel - Red Dead Redemption 2.
The DLC would be similar to Undead Nightmare, and you'd play as Arthur. As for the remake, it would arrive sometime in late 2020 or early 2021, with a larger map and some other improvements over the original.
The whole post looked fishy from the start and the Reddit user has admitted that everything is made up and that his little lie was part of an experiment regarding the rumours in the video game industry.
"There is no dlc for Red Dead Redemption 2 or remake of the first game as far as I know. This was an experiment I have always wanted to do regarding the spreading of rumours in video game culture. I’ve been thinking about this for a while and wondering how I was going to do it, then I saw red dead online was basically being ignored so this was basically a good starting point for me," throwaway11113454 wrote in a new post.
Apparently, the Reddit user decided to confess after a couple of gaming websites picked up the rumour as he didn't want to trick people into believing that Rockstar are working on new Red Dead Redemption content.
While this rumour is certainly a lie, it wouldn't be surprising to see a Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC in the near future. Unfortunately, Rockstar Games never even mentioned this possibility, which is a true shame given that the sequel was a real gem.
