Netflix have finally shared first promo shots for their upcoming The Witcher TV series. The photos feature Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer and it's safe to say that they look much better than those from the costume test shots from last year.
One of the most anticipated TV series of the year, Netflix's Witcher finally has an official poster, logo and first promo shots. Streaming giant Netflix shared the images which feature Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Cholatra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri.
While the first shots from the last year's costume test were concerning for some fans, the latest ones look pretty great which suggest that Netflix potentially hit the nail on the head with their upcoming show.
However, not everyone is happy with the looks of the characters. Some are suggesting that Yennefer looks totally different from her description in the books and appearance in games. In books, Yennefer face is described as "very pale" while in Netflix's Witcher, Yennefer has a darker tone.
As for Ciri, well, she surely looks much more mysterious and calmer in the shots. Those who played the game may remember her differently, but again, the series is based on the books, not CD Projekt Red's games.
As for the official poster, it features Henry Cavill as Geralt, with one sword on his back. You may ask why isn't he wearing two swords, as he uses Silver for monsters and Steel for humans. Well, in the books, Geralt only wears his silver sword, while he keeps the steel one stored on Roach's saddlebags.
The poster also features a tagline "The worst monsters are the ones we create". You can take a look at it below.
Unfortunately, Netflix did not share additional details about the series. We're yet to get any official release date confirmation but the series should arrive to Netflix sometime in Q4 2019, according to Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos.
NSFW website Recapped leaked earlier this year that 20 December 2019 is the release date, but this is just a rumour and take it with a grain of salt.
