Niantic are celebrating Pokemon Go's third anniversary which prompted them to announce a pile of events and bonuses coming with it. One of the bonuses is a reintroduction of a familiar face that has a tendency to electrocute threats.
Pokemon Go third anniversary bonuses kick off on 28 June 2019 at 1 PM PDT. This is when Shiny Alolan Pokemon will start appearing. This includes Rattata, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Diglett, Meowth, Geodude, Grimer, and Exeggutor. Furthermore, team leader avatar items will be added to the style shop.
Those who are not keen on just looking for shiny Pokemon or putting makeup on their avatar will not be left out as a Pikachu with a hat will start appearing when players take a Pokemon Go snapshot photo. It is not Detective Pikachu though since this one wears a party hat instead.
Makes sense, there have been no murders or disappearances around, just an anniversary celebration. Anyway, Party Hat Pikachu will be around until 6 July 2019.
Make sure you work up your cardio during the same period since 7km eggs will sometimes hatch Party Hat Pichu as well.
Jump-start research will start together with the other activities but it will last until 2 September 2019. It will help trainers who haven't played in a while by offering Special Research that will provide useful rewards to get them up to speed. The rewards will apparently be useful for veteran players as well but Niantic didn't specify what they are.
This Special Research will only be available for the stated period and only for trainers who are level 10 or above.
Raid bonuses will be active during the same time frame as Jump-start research. It will allow trainers to take down raids quicker and provide more Premium Balls so they can catch raid bosses when playing with friends.
Speaking of friends, if you thought about trading with them, this is the time to do it - Stardust costs for trading will go down by 25 per cent during the event.
