Dota 2's International is reaffirmed in 2019 as the Heavy-Hiter among esports in time for August finals, at least in terms of prize pools. Well over $25.000.000 await as 2018's record total is again left in the dust of esports history.

It was becoming more than apparent that The International 2019 will outpace the previous year's competition prize pool around late June, at which point the gap between TI18 and TI19 was already well over $5 million when looking at the same time frame.

The Invitational 2018's record is now a thing of the past with more than enough time to spare. Currently, it is hard to figure out by just how much TI19 will surpass its predecessor but one thing has officially been confirmed - TI19 will indeed have the biggest prize pool in the history of Dota 2 esports.

For the last five tournaments, each Invitational topped the previous one's jackpot by at least a rough million dollars, with 2019 unlikely to break the trend. The prize pool beat that of TI18 on 30 June 2019 which means there are almost two months to go until the tournament kicks off.

Considering that over $300,000 rolled in on 30 June 2019 alone, TI19 might break another record. It could possibly outmatch the previous year by $2 million or even more, depending on how fast the Battle Pass money keeps coming in.

As impressive as it may be, it is not certain whether the prize pool will manage to match that of Fortnite's $30 million World Cup. On the bright side, Valve didn't allow any cheaters to join the tournament as far as we know.

The premier event for all things Dota 2 will take place 20-25 August 2019 in Shangai, more specifically at the Mercedes-Benz Arena there. This is the first time that the finals are being held in an Asian country.

Valve and the esports community they have managed to cultivate around Dota 2 seem to be breaking a few records with each year.
