Cyberpunk 2077 Collector's Edition and Standard physical edition were both initially meant for Europe only but high demand has prompted CD Projekt Red to put them up for pre-orders in USA and Canada, starting on Thursday, 20 June 2019.

To say Cyberpunk 2077 is a highly anticipated game would be a major understatement since the hype is through the roof already, more than half a year away from the official release.

CD Projekt Red announced the release date of 16 April 2019 during E3 2019, along with Collector's Edition that would include a V figurine which was sold out mere hours after the announcement. The $250 bundle includes other physical goodies such as a Quadra key chain and a lot of other swag.

Originally, CDPR wanted to sell it only in Europe but the high demand from North American fans prompted them to open pre-orders up for that region as well. On 19 June 2019, they announced that pre-orders would become available one day later, on 20 June 2019.

The fans who pre-ordered the game digitally on GOG can also switch to physical standard edition or Collector's Edition by sending a ticket to GOG support. This was confirmed by both CD Projekt Red and GOG on the same tweet, after a fan's inquiry.

As expected, the decision to offer Collector's Edition in North America was met with high praise coming from the region since the fans there will not be left out. On the other hand, some cynics could ask themselves whether it was a plan all along to initially announce North America wouldn't be getting Collector's Edition in order to artificially build up demand for the product.

Whatever the case, there is no firm evidence to support any such claims and it is expected that the stocks will run our mere hours if not minutes after they become available.

Digital distribution may not be the best thing ever to happen to consumer rights but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that it will be a blessing for Cyberpunk 2077 fans. We could be waiting weeks if not months after release to pick up our physical copies otherwise.
