CD Projekt Red boss Marcin Iwinski once again promised that Cyberpunk 2077 developers won't have to crunch to finish the development of the game. Iwinski said that the studio didn't want to make the release date a burden for the developers.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been a major talking point for the last couple of days for many reasons. The game finally got a release date and the much-anticipated info was shared by Keanu Reeves who stole the show with CD Projekt Red's RPG.
However, some gaming websites talked about Cyberpunk 2077 in a different manner, mentioning the controversial ad that appeared in one of the screenshots and earlier we got reports of crunch policies in CD Projekt Red.
CD Projekt Red boss Marcin Iwinski promised that after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the developers won't have to work overtime anymore and that crunch is completely non-mandatory, without any subtle pressure.
In a new interview with Kotaku, Iwinski once again promised that the devs won't have to crunch during Cyberpunk 2077 development and that there is no pressure on the devs to stay and work long hours.
"We can never be 200% sure that there won’t be some pressure, but it’s actually our management’s work to make sure people are OK with that, and I think I’d like people to tell other people within the company that that’s OK, because that’s when we are successful when introducing it. But so far so good," Iwinski said.
He also talked about Cyberpunk 2077 release date and if the studio decided to give devs more time to work on the game in order to avoid the crunch. Apparently, the release date is a result of the studio's production planning as they try to make it realistic and "not make it a ginormous burden on the team".
Iwinski said that the devs could spend eternity making the game better and tweaking things but ultimately it's important to set a release date that aligns with productions and marketing plans.
