Ubisoft garnered a lot of goodwill when they announced there would be one year's worth of free DLC for The Division 2 but they are now offering a completely free weekend for trial as well. On top of that, they teased a trip to NYC.

New York City will definitely look different by the time we visit it once again with The Division 2. It is now summer time so the winter holiday magic is gone, not to mention there is half a year gap between the events of The Division and the sequel.

The reason for going to NYC will be every player's favourite - we are finally hunting for Aaron Keener, the rogue Division agent from the First Wave that kept eluding us in New York. It might be some poetic justice if we actually get to face and take him out there. Unfortunately, this is the third episode of the announced content and it will happen at the start of 2020.

The first episode we are getting is right around the corner though. It will launch in July 2019 and will focusing on hunting another individual that betrayed The Division. Skip the next paragraph if you don't want story spoilers.

Those who played through the story missions in The Division 2 are aware of a high profile individual we saved only to learn he is actually working with the Black Tusk.Ubisoft didn't explicitly say it is him but they confirmed we will assault a presidential compound, go through the National Zoo and then through a rundown college.

Episode 2 will launch in Autumn 2019 and will send players to a rather special landmark - The Pentagon. Embedded agents no one knew about are exploring CIA's backyard. Quite ironic.

Finally, the free weekend will kick in on 13 June 2019 which will allow potential new players to try the game out and see if it's their cup of tea. It will conclude on 16 June 2019 and will be followed by a 33 per cent discount on The Division 2 that will end one day later, on 17th.
