Warhammer: Vermintide 2 upcoming expansion named Winds of Magic is set to release sometime in August 2019 according to the developer and publisher Fatshark. Furthermore, the devs confirmed that closed beta will start sometime in June.
Fatshark the developer and publisher of melee action-adventure Warhammer: Vermintide 2 have officially confirmed a new release date for the game's upcoming expansion named Winds of Magic.
"As a meteor crashes down in the Reikland, Beastmen emerge from the depths of the Reikwald forest and rush to the epicentre to claim it as a Herdstone. It is up to the five heroes to stop them before a dreadful disaster strikes the Empire," it's written in the official description.
The first-ever expansion for the game, that is set to add a new enemy faction – Beastmen – to the game, along with the Wind of Magic system of modifiers is set to arrive sometime in August 2019.
While the release date could be more specific, it's still better than 2019 release window which was the official release date info until now. The developers also confirmed that a closed beta test for Winds of Magic will take place sometime in June 2019. The beta test will only run on PC, and at the moment there are no plans to host one for consoles.
Fatshark expect that everyone who takes part in the closed beta will help them to get a better understanding of the balance and difficulty - from the easiest recruit to the most challenging difficulties. If you want to take part in the test, you can sign up on the official website.
As for the new content that will arrive, Fatshark say that Beastmen will be the toughest enemy faction in the entire game and to battle these, each hero will get new weapons, designed for their combat style. Furthermore, Winds of Magic will add leaderboards for those who like competitive matches.
