It's been a while since we've heard actual Anthem news, but Bioware finally rolled out a patch with quality of life fixes in preparation for the Cataclysm, the preview of which is due later today, as well as the Public Test Server.
Anthem's live stream is scheduled for 3pm Central Time on Twitch and Mixer, and EA promises a closer look at all things Cataclysm.
Still, Cataclysm's release date will have to wait a bit, because Bioware are going for a more researched approach this time.
"Rather than rush it out the door, we want to take time and get feedback from you and make changes based on what we hear. In order to do that we are releasing a Public Test Server (PTS) on PC, which will allow you to see the content as it is being developed and gives you the ability to provide feedback", they wrote.
As for Anthem's update, Freeplay got fast travel to different strider locations, purple target icons for locations where guaranteed loot droppers are, three new Emerald Abyss Legendary Missions, lore-rich load screens and a simple UI for communication with other players via D-Pad/B key.
Dominion Storm and Frost Brutes no longer have shields, Scar Hunters can be grounded with fire status effects, while Storm Javelins will regenerate shields like the rest and can be grounded with force or fire effects.
Anthem 1.2.0 also buffs a bunch of gear on Javelins, and players should be noticing them for sure.
The remainder of the update is reserved for various tweaks and fixes, and they're really too long to list. For what it's worth, it looks like Bioware's decision to delay the content roadmap may have been a wise one, as the sheer amount of fixes shows.
Anthem has taken a bit of a nosedive when it comes to population, but if team Bioware manage to stay on the right track, there's no reason why Anthem couldn't have a renaissance - it has been done before.
