Epic have rolled out the v9.01 update to Fortnite: Battle Royale and it adds the Tactical Assault Rifle, reduces Baller health, adjusts the Drum Gun and vaults the Compact SMG, along with Slipstream adjustments and other minor tweaks.
"Tactics take the day! This robust and precise assault rifle is the ideal option for tight quarters", Epic wrote in the description for Fortnite's freshly added weapon.
We're talking about a fully automatic, 30 round magazine weapon whose rare, epic and legendary variants deal 22, 23 and 24 damage, respectively, with a headshot multiplier of 1.75x.
Compared to other Assault Rifles, Fortnite's new weapon has a much wider spread at long range, but its close quarters spread is apparently tighter.
Baller's health has been dropped from 200 to 150, as Epic continue to tweak the vehicle in a way that doesn't tick off the rest of Fortnite players.
"The primary goal of the Baller is to provide fun and exciting mobility. We feel that it still has a little too much defensive agency - this change should reduce the effectiveness there while not impacting its strengths", they wrote.
Drum Gun's base damage has been dropped from 26/27 to 22/23, and Epic acknowledged that its effectiveness has been slightly higher than they intended. This change, they said, should reduce its combat effectiveness, while retaining the flavour.
With v9.01, Fortnite lost the Compact SMG, and Epic said it has been vaulted so as to "reduce the availability of high rate-of-fire weapons".
Slipstreams have been adjusted to not block building, as Epic noticed that many Fortnite players were forced to jump to reach them, due to building restrictions.
Players flying in them will destroy player built objects on collisions and the number of Slipstreams after storm phase 5 has been reduced, so as to prevent unwanted pull-ins into the storm.
Fortnite v9.01 also brings 7 new Fortnite Creative themes, like the one you see above, and the Tactical Assault Rifle is there as well.
