Battlefield V's Firestorm has attracted more than 1 million players and boosted the game's player count by 60 per cent it's been confirmed by EA in their earnings call. Firestorm is also the biggest Battlefield live service event ever.

It's safe to say that Battlefield V didn't attract as much attention and interest as some previous instalments due to its live service model that EA is aggressively pushing in their latest games. Many felt that Battlefield V lacked content on launch but EA promised that more events and game modes will be coming over the course of the year.

The biggest addition is certainly the battle royale mode named Firestorm, which launched in March 2019. In their latest earnings call, EA confirmed that this mode has been a major success for the franchise.

Blake Jorgensen, CFO of EA said that more than 1 million people returned to Battlefield V shortly after the launch of Firestorm. The battle royale mode was well accepted and enjoyed by the players and it will definitely help to bring back Battlefield franchise a bit closer to other heavy hitters out there.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson mentioned that Firestorm launch was so successful it became the "biggest Battlefield live service event ever". On the launch week, the game's active player figures were boosted by 60 per cent when compared to the week before the launch.

While EA and Dice are happy with Firestorm and Battlefield V at the moment, there is much more to come in future live service events and updates. Battlefield V will add at least two more "live service updates" and the first one should arrive sometime this summer while the second update should drop during Autumn.

EA confirmed that each of these updates will introduce "more of what fans are looking for". This means new maps, missions and some limited time game modes that players want to see permanently in the game. EA plan to show some of this content at EA Play in June 2019.
