Bungie have announced nerfs to Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten, the two favourite hand cannons for any Crucible goers. Needless to say, this didn't sit well with the PvP community who worked hard on getting these pinnacle hand cannons.
Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten have been dominating Destiny 2 PvP and Bungie are looking to shake things up a bit. Season of Opulence will see both of these hand cannons nerfed as the developers saw their unique perk a bit too powerful.
Magnificent Howl grants bonus damage provided the wielder of any of these two weapons lands two quick precision hits, until the next miss or kill. The upcoming change in fire rate, where both guns will go from 180 down to 150 rounds per minute will make the window for landing these shots shorter and more skill oriented.
According to Bungie, another aspect that will be balanced out with this change is the time to kill that the hand cannons had a major lead in. Nerfing the fire rate will bring it more in line with primary weapons that felt lacklustre when compared to Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten.
Nerfs and buffs are something that happens regularly in games that have a PvP component, but it is a bit trickier in Destiny 2 and particularly with these two weapons because it's a long and fairly excruciating process to get them.
Luna's Howl requires players to reach Fabled rank in Crucible, kill 450 people in Competitive PvP, 100 of them with headshots.
Not Forgotten takes it one step further, since players first need to get Luna's Howl and then use it to kill an additional 500 players in Competitive.
Now a decent chunk of that power that players strived and worked for is gone, which will no doubt feel like a kick in the teeth. Technically, people just needed Luna's Howl for that fabled perk but seeing more players going for Not Forgotten will be highly unlikely in the future.
