Codemasters' F1 2019 will feature Formula 2 championship

Codemasters have officially confirmed that their upcoming racing simulation F1 2019 will feature Formula 2 cars and full championship as previously speculated. Players will get to compete in F2 before progressing into current F1 season.

Codemasters have revealed a bunch of new details about the upcoming racing simulation F1 2019. As previously speculated, the new F1 game will feature Formula 2 cars and the full 2018 season on launch, while F2 2019 season will be added later in the year trough free update.

Players will get to compete alongside George Russell, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon and follow them into the current F1 season. At the moment, the details about this career addition are pretty scarce so it's unknown how exactly is the new mode integrated into the overall career experience but Codemasters will share more info in the upcoming weeks.

According to the devs, Formula 2 cars and championship was consistently, one of the most requested features from the F1 community and they are delighted to finally introduce it to the series.

On top of Formula 2 reveal, Codemasters also shared some details on F1 2019 Legends Edition that will feature the F1 legends Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Those of you who purchase the F1 2019 Legends Edition will get to drive as Ayrton Senna in his 1990 McLaren MP4/5B and Alain Prost in the Ferrari F1-90, take part in over eight race challenges and receive exclusive Senna and Prost themed multiplayer car liveries.

On top of that, Legends Edition will launch three days earlier on 25 June 2019. Codemasters also revealed Anniversary Edition, which has been made in celebration of the tenth F1 game from Codemasters Birmingham Studio. This one will include two race-winning cars from the classic 2010 season - the Ferrari F10, as driven by Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, and Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button’s McLaren MP4-25.

As for the cover art, Lewis Hamilton, as reigning champion is the usual suspect along with Sebastian Vettel from Ferrari for the UK and Global release. Depending on the country, F1 2019 cover will also feature Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, Lance Stroll and Daniel Riccardio among other drivers.
