NetherRealm officially confirmed that changes have been made to Mortal Kombat 11's Towers of Time difficulty levels after many players voiced their discontent with the extreme difficulty and poor progression system in the game overall.
Mortal Kombat 11 has finally launched this week and it's safe to say that feelings from critics and players are mixed. From reviews praising the game and naming it as the best Mortal Kombat title in the series to those who are disappointed with the game's progression system, terrible grind and even pay to win elements.
In the lastest Kombat Kast, NetherRealm Studios have talked about some of these issues and changes that will be made to make the progression more satisfying and less grindy.
The majority of these changes are made to limited-time Towers of Time mode. From now on, enemy health, which is often ten times higher than your character's, will be lowered from 4,000 to 1,500, which should even the odds and make it a bit easier to deal with enemies in Towers.
Furthermore, modifiers that control shooting of various missile from the background will be nerfed. Also, missiles will be blockable and fire in much lower numbers. This feature was extremely frustrating for the majority of players as you can see in one of the posts from unhappy Redditors.
Last but not least, the overall difficulty for Towers of Time will be lowered, however, NetherRealm still want to make it feel hard and give players a proper challenge. With this update, the devs just want to remove that feeling that players have been cheated by the game no matter how good they are.
As for the other changes, Mortal Kombat 11's loot box hell named The Krypt will also get some tweaks. To begin with, all players will get 500,000 koins, 500 hearts, 1000 soul tokens and 1000 time krystals to purchase skins in the store.
This has been confirmed by the devs in the Kombat Kast who also said that their main goal is to make the game "fun" and that it was never their intention to "encourage the in-game purchases" with game design.
