TaleWorlds Entertainment, the studio behind Mount & Blade franchise has revealed that the highly anticipated Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is heading for closed beta testing soon, although we're not exactly sure how soon that may be.
It's obvious that the goal of the actual update wasn't on the actual announcement, but we don't mind as the sequel to Mount & Blade: Warband and With Fire & Sword has been a long time coming.
Eight years in fact, if you count from when TaleWorlds used the aforementioned novel as inspiration for the Mount & Blade franchise, albeit with less blades than usually.
"There is still a lot of work needed to fine tune and balance everything. To do this more efficiently, we are planning to carry out a closed multiplayer beta where we hope to get help and feedback from members of our community", they wrote.
While it doesn't speak of the exact date, TaleWorlds' announcement did say that more info on Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord's closed beta is coming in the future dev updates.
As for the dev update itself, TaleWorlds were mostly focusing on the "number of multiplayer modes" they've been working on for Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord.
One of those is Skirmish, a 6 versus 6 PvP mode that relies on individual combat skill of you and your teammates, as well as proper communication of course.
TaleWorlds briefly considered asymmetric multiplayer design, but gave up on the idea in favour of limited spawns, where the quality of your chosen classes dictates the number of spawns you'll be getting.
Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord Skirmish players get a set amount of points they can spend during a round, with a limited amount of points carrying over to the next one.
Note that Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord's new mode is still under development and therefore subject to any and all changes, but this is where the closed beta will come in especially helpful. Whenever it starts.
