Treyarch introduced some major additions in the latest Black Ops 4 update. Starting 26 March 2019, you'll get to play classic Call of Duty experience in the new Barebones modes. The update also brings an overhaul to friendly fire.

After announcing the next chapter of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Zombies, Treyarch have revealed another batch of major additions that are going live today - 26 March 2019, exclusively on PlayStation 4, with PC and Xbox One releases coming at a later date.

Treyarch detailed all the changes and additions in their live stream, and according to the devs, the update will include a new mode named Barebones, changes to League Play, a complete overhaul of friendly fire and new content and tweaks for Blackout among other things.

The idea with Barebones mode is to bring back the classic feel to Call of Duty Black Ops 4 by removing specialists, operator mods and gear. The Barebones playlist will include two modes only - Team Deathmatch and Domination, with both Core and Hardcore variations.

As for the League Play, new ranks are being added, from 21 to 30, and Skill Divisions are a new feature that will place players on skill-based ladders with five tiers - Top 2 per cent, 15 per cent, 30 per cent, 50 per cent and the rest.

The bonus pool will no longer be daily, instead, it's event wide with a larger bonus amount. The goal here is to allow players to gain bonuses without having to play every day.

Friendly fire has received a big overhaul after the players' feedback. Treyarch wanted to disincentivise griefing while being lenient to those who do unintentional teamkills.

To do this, Friendly fire will act normal for the first three kills, counting as teamkills. After that, the system will switch to Richochet friendly fire reflecting all damage inflicted to teammates to yourself. The new system will be available in all modes that feature friendly fire.

A new version of limited-time event Ambush is coming soon to Black Out and it won't feature ATVs, ARAVs and SDM. However, shotguns will be added along with the increase of 4X scope spawn rate.

Operation Grand Heist that is currently in its closing days will have something special in store for the players but the devs didn't go into details on this one.
