Halo fans offered pizza to 343 Industries employees should the new Master Chief Collection get announced for PC. It did and the pizzas started raining upon 343 soon after. There was so much pizza they asked fans to stop sending more.
Halo has a dedicated fan base and that was proven time after time, with the latest case being when they promised pizza for the first 343 Industries employee that responded to a thread that was a curious way of asking whether Halo: Master Chief Collection for PC would be announced.
Brian Jarrard, the community director of 343 Industries, was the first one to respond on the Reddit thread, asking what kind of pizza the original poster was talking about. The announcement indeed happened and so did pizza. Jarrard posted the first picture on his Twitter.
What apparently no one at 343 Industries expected was that so many fans would be so glad about the announcement that the pizza count would go through the roof. Other 343 employees started posting pictures of the seemingly endless torrent of pizza.
This didn't go unnoticed by local businesses who commented on yet another pizza picture asking whether 343 needed more pizza. The answer at that time was positive and fans probably took it seriously as the food kept coming for a long while, prompting Jarrard to finally address the situation once again.
He finally asked the community to stop sending pizza as the building receptionist was done with the shift so the employees had to go pick the pizza up by themselves, posing some logistical problems in the process. Jarrard added they don't want to see any food go to waste and complimented the community once again for staying true to their word.
Pizza at 343 Industries is probably one of the biggest shows of community goodwill towards developers in recent years with one other notable effort being the delivery of 400 cupcakes to ArenaNet following an update to Guild Wars, a game that was on automated maintenance up until that point.
