Conan Exiles free weekend has kicked off but there is still plenty of time to check the game out for free. Funcom bundled a 50 per cent discount to go along with the weekend in case someone tried and liked the game enough to purchase it.

Funcom have announced that Conan Exiles will be free to play from 07 March 2019 and go back to being the regular pay-to-play old self on 10 March 2019. During this period, players will be able to purchase the game at half the price, which is $19,99 / €19,99 / £16.99 on Steam for the duration of the event.

For those unacquainted, it is a survival game that borrowed some combat inspiration from Souls series and experience generation ideas from TES V: Skyrim. Conan Exiles is not a carbon copy in any of those mechanics though and puts its own flavour first.

If you happen to be an enthusiast of survival games that is bored of combat that is simple click mashing, you may want to give Conan Exiles a shot, but make sure you give it a go playing solo first, instead of jumping into multiplayer immediately and getting wrecked by more experienced clans or players who just want to kill someone for the kicks.

You got the right impression from the paragraph above if you figured out that Conan Exiles can be played offline. It is one of the rare survival games that offer this, despite some others being completely fine without multiplayer elements, such as the ill-fated Metal Gear Survive. The latter absolutely didn't need to be always online, but it is for some reason.

Our review of Conan Exiles praised several points that Funcom got right but also paid attention to some bugs and issues that may affect player experience.

While the combat felt satisfying, especially because it deals with mature themes just like the rest of Conan universe, it had some glitches that could make enemies invulnerable. Keep in mind that almost an entire year passed since our review and as we anticipated, several DLC packages were released in that time in order to keep the recurring revenue going.
