NetherRealm have announced a new playable character for Mortal Kombat 11. It's warrior Jade who previously appeared in 2011's Mortal Kombat and had a cameo in Mortal Kombat X as well. Jade is the eighteenth character to join the roster.
NetherRealm Studios are trying to keep the hype levels as high as possible as their upcoming fighter Mortal Kombat 11 inches closer and closer to its release date.
The developers have been sharing new playable characters for weeks now, and today, we can add another familiar face to Mortal Kombat 11 as Jade joins the roster.
It would be an understatement to say that fans have been craving for this announcement for weeks now, spamming the official Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter with "announce Jade" messages after every tweet.
Jade made her first appearance in 1993's Mortal Kombat 2, where she featured as a secret boss that players could unlock and confront by piecing together some clues. She wasn't playable in Mortal Kombat 2 though, but players got a first glimpse of Jade's fighting style two years later, in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
She was given her own attributes and storyline, appearing as a former Shao Khan servant who decided to join her childhood friend Princess Milena instead of assassinating her. She also had a cameo in Mortal Kombat X while her last playable appearance was in 2011's Mortal Kombat.
Jade uses her staff which can change its length to strike enemies and also has a unique weapon dubbed Razorangs which is, as the name suggests a combination of razor and boomerang.
In one of the NetherRealm's gameplay videos, which were shared shortly after the announcement, we can also see teleportation fatal blow which Jade uses to teleport behind Sub Zero and stab and slice through his back. Poor guy.
Jade is the eighteenth fighter to join Mortal Kombat 11 roster. NetherRealm previously confirmed some new and familiar faces such as Scorpion, Sub Zero, Raiden, Sonya Blade, Kano, D'vorah, Skarlet, Kabal and Geras who is a brand new character in the franchise. No Shaggy though.
Mortal Kombat 11 is out on 23 April 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
