THQ Nordic are obviously not nearly done with their shopping spree as the publisher now acquired Warhorse Studios, developer of the action RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance, although the developer will continue to operate independently.
According to the details of the deal, Warhorse will continue to run independently with "strong creative freedom", only now it will be under THQ Nordic's banner.
The studio's founders, Daniel Vavra and Martin Klima, will remain in their current roles and same goes for Martin Fryvalsky, Warhorse's CEO.
Warhorse's CEO Martin Fryvalsky said, "Becoming part of THQ Nordic family is an important milestone for our studio. We began as a small start-up with a handful of employees who were enthusiastic enough to join this challenging project."
Warhorse and Kingdom Come: Deliverance have come a long way from the game's early beginnings, where the studio almost gave up on the game altogether.
Thanks to the Kickstarter campaign though, which served as the ultimate tipping point, Kingdom Come: Deliverance saw the light of day and has sold upwards of 2 million copies up to date.
"KC:D started as a project crowdfunded by a Kickstarter campaign, where over 35 000 fans partially funded the game and have been able to follow the game under development along the way", Fryvalsky added.
"I look forward to continue working with the founders who will continue managing the studio under strong creative freedom for many years to come", says Lars Wingefors, CEO of THQ Nordic AB.
Warhorse and Kingdom Come: Deliverance are the last in a long line of THQ Nordic's purchases, with the last one being that of Coffee Stain Studios and Bugbear Entertainment, developers of Goat Simulator and Wreckfest, respectively.
Back in September 2018, THQ Nordic snapped up Lovecraftian survival horror franchise Alone in the Dark and real-time strategy Act of War, both owned by Atari, and the list goes on.
With Kingdom Come: Deliverance now added to their repertoire, THQ Nordic should be soon delivering popular IPs by the truckload.
