After a negative feedback from the Fortnite community, Epic Games have removed the overpowered weapon dubbed Infinity Blade from the game. The developer said they messed up and released the weapon too soon and without good counters.
It looks like Fortnite's Infinity Blade is not so infinite after all. Epic Games announced that the controversial new weapon has been removed from the game after a healthy discussion and feedback from the fans. The developer said that they will look to introduce some changes to the weapon which has been a major talking point since 7.01 update which landed just a couple of days ago.
The Infinity Sword gave players unmatched movement speed and the ability to kill opponents and tear down structures with a single hit, and all of that while restoring the player's health after each kill.
Fortnite players were furious with the weapon and Epic already nerfed the sword once, toning down the health restoration ability. It looks like that wasn't enough and Epic had to apologise while taking a more radical step. "We messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpowered, without good counters, especially in the end game. The Infinity Blade has been Vaulted and we are re-evaluating our approach to Mythic items," Epic confirmed in the official statement.
Players reacted positively to the update saying that they are looking forward to playing Fortnite again and that game as good as Fortnite should never become unplayable because of one item.
We couldn't agree more to be honest, a highly competitive game of Fortnite's size certainly requires a lot testing and tweaks before the introduction of new items, especially the high-level ones which can create a real mess if done wrong which was the case with The Infinity Blade.
Anyway, Epic at least admitted their mistake and are listening to their fans requests regularly which is not a common case in the gaming industry today.
In other Fortnite news, Epic recently announced that they will let devs use the game's cross-platform technology for free. Also, take a detailed look at a brand new building mode dubbed Fortnite Creative.
