Development of The Walking Dead: Final Season's last two episodes has officially started, as Skybound Games have confirmed. The new developer did not reveal the official release date but the last chapter should come out by the end of 2018.

Ever since Skybound Games took over The Walking Dead franchise, fans have been assured that Telltale's death doesn't mean the death of the beloved series. In the past few weeks, the new developer has been releasing the information about their plans for the last two episodes of The Final Season. Today - 20 November 2018, Skybound Games have officially confirmed that work on The Walking Dead series has resumed with many members of the original staff back on the development team.

Skybound have not shared any specific information about the storyline or the exact release date, but they are hopeful everything will be wrapped up by the end of 2018. The game will also re-release on online stores after Telltale's liquidation resulted in the games being taken down from Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 stores. Players who already purchased season four won't have to buy it again as the game will be added to their library when it hits the stores.

The official confirmation comes after Skybound worked with Telltale Games to take control of the series as the whole process required tons of legal and logistical work before the company could even start working on new content. The studio explained they couldn't do anything until everything has been settled. "After Telltale shut its doors, the game was, unfortunately, unable to be worked on and hence the release dates of Episodes 3 and 4 have been delayed", the official statement reads.

Telltale's catastrophic closure caught many people off guard after two potential investors walked away from funding talks. Just days after the announcement, a former employee filed a lawsuit in the name of fired staff, saying that Telltale have violated labour laws with the liquidation as they didn't give employees any notice about contract termination.

Since then, Telltale let go the remaining members of the staff and announced that Skybound will be taking over the development and publishing of The Walking Dead: The Final Season.
