An animated series based on Capcom's popular franchise Devil May Cry is in the works by the Castlevania animated series producer Adi Shankar. He also revealed that both franchises will join in what they call a "bootleg multiverse."

After a successful Castlevania animated adaptation by Netflix, the producer Adi Shankar is looking to bring more video games animated series to world's most popular streaming service. This time it's Capcom's Devil May Cry that he's working on and the series will join Castlevania in what he calls a "bootleg multiverse."

Shankar explained that he acquired the project just to save it from Hollywood and he was very clear about it. " I acquired these rights myself so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t f*** this one up too" Shankar explicitly said. He could be pointing to Monster Hunter movie that's currently in the works after some set pictures were revealed showing modern military setting.

He didn't offer any specifics about the series story, characters or how the bootleg multiverse will work. We could have a direct Devil May Cry and Castlevania crossover or something similar but we'll have to wait and see or speculate as Shankar encouraged us to do. “Let the speculation begin,” he said.

Hopefully, Devil May Cry animated series will follow the same successful path as Castlevania which was recently renewed for season three after the first two seasons received positive reviews from the fans. Shankar even attributed the Devil May Cry announcement to the success of Castlevania which "overperformed and did crazy well". Shankar thanked the fans for the support saying that he wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for them.

After the announcement, the producer took to Twitter to share his excitement about the project by posting the picture below.
