Spyro Reignited Trilogy is out for PS4 and Xbox One and with it we have a ton of reviews from various gaming websites. We're gonna gather them up all in one piece to see how well the game from late 90's fare with the power of new hardware.
We're gonna start with a review from Eurogamer who praised the game for its "wonderful mindless gameplay" and smooth controls. They describe Spyro's world as a magical experience for returning players predicting that aesthetics could make the game a hit for new, younger generations. Eurogamer also criticized Spyro Reignited Trilogy for its messy tutorial system and unbalanced difficulty levels, which goes from too easy to almost impossible.
According to IGN, The Spyro Reignited Trilogy "recaptures the magic of Spyro's original adventures in one nostalgic package." They enjoyed the game's world and adorable animations while praising Toys for Bob for staying true to Spyro's charm and personality. Their score is 8.5.
Gamespot claims that The Reignited Trilogy shows just how well the original games stand up mechanically even to this day. They said Toys for Bob "deserves major kudos for bringing Insomniac's vision to life in the way we could've only dreamed in 1998." Gamespot were also impressed by the wide variety of activities and simple but fun design, which is why they gave it an 8 out of 10.
Forbes had an "absolute blast" playing through the Spyro games once again. Like Gamespot, they mentioned the original title and how interesting is to see Insomniac's game "become more improved and expansive over time." They concluded by saying these kinds of games may be simplistic in today's game design standards but are something the industry needs - "lighthearted, bright, satisfying, happy-go-lucky fun."
For our colleagues at GameInformer "Spyro is a blast to control," and a game they can't recommend enough. They joined the majority by praising the game's breathtaking graphics but said that game lacks in level design due to the identical recreation of Insomniac's game. They also agree with Eurogamer's critic for lack of tutorials, saying that players don't have any guidance to tell them what they need to do. GameInformer gave Spyro a score of 8.5.
Heavy review is another one with nothing but a praise for Spyro giving it a high 9 out of 10 score. Venture Beat dubbed The Reignited Trilogy as "one of the most attractive kid-friendly games you’ll find." Their score? 88 out of 100. Attack of the Fanboy's review is no exception with their 4.5 out of 5 score.
