Ubisoft have announced a surprise free weekend for Rainbow Six Siege, with no previous teasers. The weekend is set to start less than 24 hours from the time of writing, on 15 November 2018, and will be followed by a series of sales.
Rainbow Six Siege's free weekend will go on from 15 November to 18 November 2018, starting at 17:00 CET on PC, 14:00 CET for PS4 and 09:00 AM for Xbox One. Pre-loads are available for PC and PS4, but players on PlayStation 4 will still need a PS Plus subscription, while Xbox One users will need Microsoft's counterpart Xbox Live Gold Subscription.
PC players will have it easy - they just need to download uPlay, browse for the game and download to play. PlayStation 4 players will need to go to the PSN Store, find the game and click Try Free Demo which is located next to Add to Cart button. Xbox One players will need to go to Games with Gold and find Rainbow Six Siege there.
As per usual, all progress made during the free weekend will carry over should players choose to purchase afterward. Bear in mind that the Starter Edition will be only slightly cheaper than the Standard Edition once the discount kicks in so make sure you buy the latter if you decide to commit.
The reason for this is that the base operators come unlocked with Standard Edition, all 20 of them. Needless to say, Starter Edition grind will have you running in the hamster wheel for hundreds of hours.
The Standard Edition will unlock the same 20 operators that players will have access to during the free weekend, so you may as well get familiar with them. Unfortunately, the newest additions are still not here, so there will be no chance of seeing Nomad or Kaid in action during the free weekend. For more info, you can check the official FAQ.
