Blizzard have released a cinematic cutscene showing King Anduin perplexed over what he should do next in the war against the Horde and what he plans to do with High Overlord Saurfang. Meanwhile, the dark side of Night Elves starts showing.

Blizzard have revealed several bits of information regarding the Tides of Vengeance, which will be the first major update since the launch of Battle for Azeroth. Players have seen the dark side of the horde so far, as Sylvanas resorted to brutal terrorism and chemical warfare, again.

High Overlord Saurfang has been the Alliance's prisoner since the Battle for Lordaeron and King Anduin Wrynn found himself pondering whether the war has any point at the start of the cinematic. He is quickly reassured by Genn Greymane and seems to strike a deal with Saurfang, who will seemingly help Alliance deal with the corrupt Warchief.

This sets stage for what could be a quite interesting story to witness, as Saurfang values honor and Horde above all and now it could look like he's siding with the enemy in the eyes of the Horde members. Meanwhile, Blizzard have stated that the Alliance will also be in the morally gray area since they don't intend to portray one side as the villains and the other as heroes.

First signs are seemingly showing among the Night Elves, whose homeland was burned to a crisp by Sylvanas. They seem to be consumed by vengeance, since even their leaders, who normally called for avoiding conflict, started attacking Horde supply caravans.

They showed their intimidating power, while Malfurion handled one Orc soldier with particular cruelty. You can see these scenes in the cutscene below.

It remains to be seen what will happen with the races who are the most invested in this conflict though, as Worgen have a long standing hatred for the Forsaken and now the Night Elves seem obsessed with simply killing every Horde member they see.

We will see exactly what happens when Tides of Vengeance launches on 11 December 2018.
