Epic Games announced they'll be dialling back the number of dynamic spawners for Fortnite's cube monsters and when you add to that freshly raised $1.25 billion in new investments, Epic will surely have an epic Halloween this year.

First things first though, as many users found the number of cube monsters in late game to be more like Fortnite: Save the World than Battle Royale. Granted, many thought the balance to be just right but we guess Epic listened to the majority. Anyway, the changes are as follows:

  • Phase 1: from 85 to 85 (unchanged)
  • Phase 2: from 40 to 25
  • Phase 3: from 30 to 15
  • Phase 4: from 10 to 7
  • Phase 5, 6: from 10 to 5
  • Phase 7, 8, 9: from 5 to 3

Players have been thanking Epic for the quick reaction and the saving of their ears, since cube monsters are quite a loud bunch. The company already said they'll be addressing it in the next Fortnite update, so you'll have to make do until then.

As for Fortnite's financial backend, Epic Games have apparently managed to raise $1.25 billion from a group of seven new minority shareholders, joining the likes of Tencent and Disney. With recent financial analyses estimating the company's worth at $5.9 billion and Fortnite killing it, as usual, the investment would probably be closer to a jackpot than a financial risk.

Epic's CEO Tim Sweeney said that he and the company are excited they're teaming up with "the finest minds in the financial, sports and entertainment communities". Ultimately, he thinks this will further solidify Epic's position, even if it didn't look like it needed solidifying from where we're looking.

Other than adding the cube's means to fight back against players in Fortnitemares, the last Fortnite update also added the six shooter and the fiend hunter crossbow, which as the name suggests is pretty handy against cube fiends. While it usually deals 40 damage, shooting the aforementioned will quadruple the damage. Whatever, as long as the screams stop.
