Insomniac Games have gone on record with plans for Spider-man's post-launch DLC dubbed The City That Never Sleeps, which will actually contain three separate DLC packs. Joining in, Marvel rolled out a video on Spidey's action sequences.
The first chapter of Spider-man: The City That Never Sleeps is called The Heist and it's coming on 23 October 2018. As the story goes, Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. Black Cat, is back in town and is toying with Spidey, leaving clues all over, which will become clear as you trudge along the main quest.
Insomniac Games said that The Heist will have new missions and challenges, as well as a brand new faction of enemies. The Heist also brings three new Spider-man suits, which should arrive just in time to shake up your Spidey game, should it grow stale in the meantime.
Turf Wars is the second chapter in Spider-man: The City That Never Sleeps and it's coming in November 2018. The final chapter, Silver Lining, is due in December and judging by the name, it should be a proper conclusion to the DLC package.
Marvel have also rolled out a video that focuses on Spider-man's action sequences and the poor sods that had to darn near break their necks to make it all work. Just kidding of course, I know they're professionals but it doesn't make their skills any less impressive though.
Interestingly, Insomniac Games' animation director Bobby Coddington revealed that many of Spider-man's moves were made on-set as a result of "blue sky thinking", i.e. improvisation and physical brainstorming if you will.
As you can see from the video, Insomniac Games drew on pretty much every possible discipline there is. Parkour, gymnastics, martial arts - you name it, they've got it. What I really liked though is the fact that story came first, ensuring that scenes are more than just pretty colours flying on screen.
Spider-man launches on 07 September 2018 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Review embargoes are up on Tuesday, 04 September 2018 so not long before we can dissect and dive into Spider-man properly.
