Epic Games have rolled out the v5.30 content update for Fortnite: Battle Royale and while it's not really bursting at the seams with new goodies, it does add the shockwave grenade and brings back the Solid Gold LTM for its third serving.

The shockwave grenade is basically Fortnite's impulse grenade with a healthy dose of hop rock magic, which is hinted at by the purple glow. Once thrown, the grenade blasts players away but protects them from fall damage, which isn't the case with impulse 'nades.

As you can see from the video, it's a pretty troll-ish weapon and Epic wrote that "the blast is so strong you can launch players through structures." Note that both allies and foes caught by the blast will be immune to fall damage, so do yourself a favour and do what the guy  in the video did - blast them into Fortnite's treacherous seas.

Shockwave grenades drop in stacks of 2, up to a max stack size of 6. I comes in epic rarity and can be found in chests, vending machines, supply drops and llamas. Not writing about damage is always weird when talking about newly added Fortnite weapons but what can you do. I'm sure it'll do emotional damage.

Solid Gold LTM is coming back for its third serving, if my memory serves me correctly, even though Epic didn't include the v3 moniker like they did when it was back in v2. While not overly important at first, it does seem to hint at one of many modes that are likely to become mainstays in Fortnite: Battle Royale.

Just like in its earlier outings, Solid Gold LTM has 50v50 players in the field, battling it out with only legendary weapons. So whatever you pick up, you can be sure that you've had a fair shot at glory against the other guy. Or girl.

Interestingly, SuperData's latest report says that Fortnite is finally showing signs of slowing down when it comes to revenue growth. I'm starting to think Epic Megagames are running out of planets to conquer.
