Focus Home Interactive and New World Interactive have released a "Raw PvP Gameplay" trailer for their upcoming shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm. The gameplay on its own looks interesting, but it's abandoning some of the original's qualities.

This "raw" PvP trailer shows different segments of possibly several PvP matches in Insurgency: Sandstorm. The combat looks good, but it will be a thorn in the side of many fans of the original Insurgency.

The game's pacing has shifted to somewhat fast, reminding many viewers of the action in Battlefield and Call of Duty series which is not inherently a bad thing. Well, it's actually terrible if you remember that many got hyped for the sequel because everyone expected it to be a continuation of high-tension tactical combat that was available in the original Insurgency.

Players in the video can be seen often darting around the battlefield, with no cover whatsoever at times. No cover meant near instant death in the original Insurgency, so it's rather anti-climactic to see it in the trailer.

Another big change is the weapon handling. Many fans have pointed out there is barely any weapon sway and free aim has been tempered with. The most probable reason for this is the fact that Insurgency: Sandstorm isn't a PC exclusive, and console players would have too many issues trying to aim in a game striving for realism.

Lack of a take on realistic weapon handling resulted in the players spraying their guns all over the place, which was barely ever the case in the original Insurgency. Many didn't like this change as single shot fire might become obsolete due to weapons seemingly having laser precision.

Personally, I got a PUBG vibe from the trailer, so it would be interesting to see if New World Interactive manage to shove a battle royale mode into the game at some point. If it proves to have better optimisation, it could take a sizeable chunk out of PUBG's player base.
