Nintendo has more than half of Japan's top 20 games in 2018

In spite of their recent financial burp, Nintendo is doing more than fine and it turns out that the company has more than half the games in Japan's Top 20. To make matters even better for the Japanese game maker - they're all exclusives.

Unfortunately for Nintendo, the first place was snapped up by Capcom with their Monster Hunter: World, which has simply wiped the floor with its Japanese competition. Seeing the game sell 1,949,592 copies though makes me wonder why exactly analysts downgraded Capcom's stock.

Monster Hunter: World has been a smash hit for Capcom, helping the company to their most profitable year yet and becoming their best selling game only a few months after it launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January 2018. Notice someone missing there? Yeah and Monster Hunter: World won't be coming to the Switch either, at least not for the time being.

Once you look past the pole position though, it becomes clear that Nintendo is rocking the year 2018 like a boss. True, the company is usually heavily featured in anything game related in Japan, top 20s included, but the amount of games they've produced is downright impressive.

Nintendo basically owns the top 10, starting with Splatoon 2 in second place all the way to Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in seventh. The usual suspects are all there - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and we can't forget the excellent The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The list only briefly leaves Nintendo with Konami's Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2018, only to continue unbroken until the twelfth place, held by Sega's Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise. Nintendo only appears twice more, Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Tennis Aces in 14 and 18.

Interestingly, Nintendo have had issues with their stock downgraded by analysts, even though its customers insist they have won E3. They also insist some dude called Waluigi deserved better from Nintendo and we've reached out for comment. He doesn't seem to be very talkative though.
