Blizzard previously announced the arrival of new PvP ranking system in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and now it's world PvP's turn. The changes take the form of War Mode and features tied to it, such as air drops and bounty system.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth's War Mode will put an end to PvP and PvE server flags as they will be irrelevant once the new system kicks in. This way, players who for any given reason made characters in a PvE server but want to play world PvP will be able to simply flip the switch in their faction's capital. Those with War Mode on will enter an instance that allows world PvP the moment they leave a sanctuary zone and will be in the same instance with people from other servers who also flipped the switch on.

The risk of ganks reduces the leveling efficiency so Blizzard will be offering incentives to make up for it. For example, players with War Mode on will gain more experience and will get some when killing the opposing factions. Players with War Mode on maximum level will gain more gold and resources. On top of these benefits, Battle for Azeroth will include two new features - air drops and bounty system.

Air drops will be somewhat similar to those in battle royale games, as they will contain gear and other valuables, which will prompt people to fight to death in order to claim them. It will not be a free for all like Gurubashi Arena though, as players of the same faction will still be allied.

The Bounty system will kick in when players develop a taste for blood, or in other words, when they kill enough players of the opposite faction without dying. This will put the Assassin status on them which will increase their damage output and healing they receive by 15 per cent. The downside will be that opposite faction's players will be able to see them on the map and come for a bona fide manhunt.
