Steam's Spring sale, or as they like to call it Spring Cleaning event, is underway and we're looking at tasks for badge rewards as well as nine games that are free to play over the weekend, and all that with a rather juicy discount to boot.

If you're like me, and the vast majority of Steam users, you have piled up quite the library of games over the years. There is also a high probability that you didn't even play many of them and they're just collecting dust. Valve are now trying to shake things up a bit and are offering incentives if you're willing to instal and play some of those games. They're already in your library, so no harm done, right?

There will be several tasks for the duration of the event, from 24 to 28 May 2018. You can start by picking up one of the offered projects or daily tasks and completing those. For examples, projects will ask you to play a game you have played for more than two hours, but haven't played it in a while. Or you can pick up a project that will offer you to play a game you bought in the past six months.

Daily tasks evidently update every 24 hours and they consist of "chores" such as Steam picking a random game in your library for you to play, jumping into one of the games that are free over the weekend or installing and going through games you haven't played at all yet. Regardless of whether you choose to go for a daily task or a project, you will earn the Spring Cleaning badge and going through these "quests" will level the badge up.

I would cordially suggest jumping into the games that will be free for the weekend, that are also quite tempting. Borderlands 2, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Left 4 Dead 2 are probably the highlights, but the remaining six games also have their own niche.

For example, Tyranny is a beautiful RPG game that the fans of Pillars series might enjoy, DiRT 4 has its own rally charms and Dead by Daylight will find its way into the hearts of any fans of the classic slasher horror genre.

You can see the full list of games that also includes Cities Skylines, Don't Starve Together and Castle Crashers as well as task details here.
