Ubisoft have announced that The Crew 2 closed beta will be going on from 31 May to 4 June 2018. The event will both start and close at 9 AM UK time at respective dates. Pre-loads for the closed beta will be available from 29 May 2018.
Ubisoft have also confirmed that the beta event will be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One families, including Xbox One X. Players that want to participate in the event can sign up on this page and see if they get a mail from Ubisoft in the days leading up to the beta.
Players who get elected to participate will be able to play the first level of the progression system as they take part in races across the first four disciplines - Street Race, Rally Raid, Powerboat and Aerobatics. Areas of USA where the game takes place are apparently completely redesigned from the first outing so players shouldn't feel like they're redoing the same thing all over again.
One of the "features" in the game will be the "Fast-Fav" button that will turn the racing game into a Transformers simulator. This button will let players switch between vehicle types on the fly - quite literally when it comes to planes. So, players can be flying in one moment and transform into a car in the next, so as to indulge in some street racing.
Multiplayer was a given due to the game's nature, so players will be offered a chance to compete with their peers non-stop. Meanwhile, single player was a big question mark ever since companies started throwing their weight on the multiplayer side of the scale. However, Ubisoft have confirmed players will also be able to embark on solo adventures.
There is also a new trailer included with the beta announcement, followed by the standard cringy scripted narration that is by now a trademark for Ubisoft trailers. They get bonus points for having a Dorothy track in the background though and the trailer offers more insights in different areas of the game.
