Not everyone has sense of humour, right? Well, Bethesda sure ain't one of 'em, because the company pulled a badum-ts in response to Walmart's supposed leak of the sequel to Rage, a game whose sequel seems less likely than world peace.
The leak is courtesy of the Canadian branch of Walmart, who posted quite a few interesting listings recently. Gears of War 5, Just Cause 4 and Forza Horizons 5. Never mind the fact we're yet to see Forza Horizon 4. And that there's no "s" in Horizon.
Nevertheless, the Rage 2 listing has proven to be a hoot, since Bethesda's reply should be pretty helpful for Walmart. How to improve believability of one's supposed leaks? Bethesda's got your back.
They've promptly informed Walmart that Rage's logo should ideally be in proper font and, if not a hassle, in caps. Apparently, it would've been great if they included some key art as well and we can't forget about the missing age rating either.
Bethesda actually made a helpful image and posted it on Rage's twitter, ultimately choosing to redesign the entire thing to match the sentiment. Call me immature but it made me giggle, elementary school style. The anarchy sign killed me.
Anyway, we think it's safe to say we won't be seeing Rage 2 on Xbox One. Bethesda's vice president Pete Hines offered further counsel, advising users to purchase magic 8-balls from Walmart and proceed to extract information on the future of Rage 2. May we suggest asking about the lottery while you're at it.
To be fair, Rage was never likely to get a sequel, not once the game sunk in as a generally underwhelming experience that it was. At the time, it seemed to have all the elements but they felt somewhat awkwardly lumped in. Nevertheless, it wasn't a disaster either.
Apparently, almost all the listings have since been taken down but if you're interested in checking them out, one twitter user screen-capped the entire offer and you can find it here. Or you can hop onto Bethesda's updated Rage twitter.
