Funcom's open world survival game Conan Exiles has launched after spending over 14 months in Steam Early Access. The game launched alongside a new trailer showing the features and a substantial 8,9GB launch update that was promised earlier.

Conan Exiles has successfully launched on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, along with an announcement that over a million copies of Conan Exiles have been already sold. The launch trailer starts with a description of Funcom's work on the game noting that the game's map is much bigger than it originally was, with Funcom claiming it's more than doubled. You can consult this infographic for the exact numbers.

This map expansion didn't stop though and the launch day patch added map pieces involving a volcano and a swamp, both of which were described as "massive areas". Launch day patch also included the up-to-date version of the new Purge gameplay where the game's creatures will attack and try to ruin players' bases.

Funcom's CEO Rui Casais has declared that Conan Exiles is "already one of the most successful titles in Funcom's 25-year history" adding that it's satisfying to see how much the game has changed during its stay in Early Access. Casais also noted that the "very positive" development in recent player reviews keeps him confident that Funcom have been successful in what they set out to do, citing that he was very proud of the team's work.

For those not up to speed, Conan Exiles is an open world survival game set in the universe of the titular barbarian which is known for its mature theme. Players who get into the game will find this out to be true right at the very beginning - in character customisation which features sliders for male and female "features", as well as full nudity.

Other than sliders for bratwurst and funbags, the game has a fair amount of gore so parental advisory is recommended. Players have been throwing heaps of praise upon Conan Exiles recently which might prompt a hype train that potential new players might perceive as misleading. If you're not sold on the game yet, you may want to wait up until next week when we will have a review done by the same cynic who wrote this article.
