Despite flying mainly under the radar, many who do remember the Attack on Titan-esque game were very interested in the universe and the possibilities it promised on E3. The game released on 10 April 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Extinction is an action adventure game based mostly around fighting giant ogres called Ravenii. What the game has to offer in terms of story and lore is mostly unknown, which might make or break the game for some people. It revolves around the protagonist hero Avil and him protecting the citizens from the hordes of Ravenii.

While the most notable of the enemies are the giant ogres, Avil will encounter hordes of human-sized enemies all trying to destroy mankind. What might set the game apart from other action adventures is the fast paced movement and hack and slash combat resembling a mixture of Darksiders and Dynasty Warriors. This combat style is experienced when fighting hordes of enemies, which quickly turns into tactical slicing and dicing once a giant ogre does appear.

Another game which comes to mind when looking at the mechanics of climbing atop an ogre after slicing off his foot is Shadow of The Colossus, which is a cult-classic game from the Playstation 2 era. What the players are saying about Extinction doesn't exactly match the enthusiasm they have for the PS2 game.

The reviews for the game are already out, and some are praising it for it's well written story and fluid movement and gameplay, while others are criticising it for being too expensive for a relatively short game experience. Nonetheless, the community has been buzzing about the game being an odd title in the sense that it is most likely an enjoyable experience, but the question remains if it is worth the cost?

Extinction released on 10 April 2018 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Players are saying the game is well optimised for most PCs and presumably it runs on PS4 and Xbox One with a steady 30 fps, with a possible 60 fps upgrade on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
