As a celebration for the highly successful first week of Far Cry 5's launch, Ubisoft have released some fun statistics and facts about the game. For example, people have streamed the game for over 55.000 hours on Twitch alone. Cherries?
Far Cry 5 managed to break the first week sales record for the franchise by earning over £220,7 or $310 million. The sky high sales outperformed any other title in the franchise, with Far Cry 4 earning only half of the amount during its first week. This was still not the highest selling Ubisoft title during its first week, since The Division raked in £235 or $330 million within five days of its release, back in 2016. Over half of Far Cry 5's first week sales happened via digital distribution.
Now, there are two records where Far Cry 5 did beat The Division. One of them are the previously mentioned 55,000 hours the game was streamed on Twitch, and the other are over 117 million views on Far Cry 5 related videos on YouTube.
While Far Cry 4 had the Honey Badgers that were simply made of players' nightmare material, Far Cry 5 had, well, turkeys. They may have instilled terror and inspired several memes with the players, Ubisoft didn't list how many deputies met an untimely end at the claws of a turkey. They did, however, mention that 8.651 players were ambushed by skunks.
This is probably not a surprise, but Boomer was the players' favourite fang for hire. That said, other animals in the game weren't neglected. For example, players have spent 1.1 million hours of quality time with Cheeseburger the bear.
When it comes to players' favourite weapons, it is not the .50 cal sniper rifle even though it can pull off some crazy feats. Players' favourite turned out to be the shovel, at least among the playtest players. There is a reason people are actually calling it a javelin and the fact it was thrown over 38.8 million meters over the past week says they are correct to call it that. It's a shovel javelin... a shovelin'.
