Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition was announced as 2017 was drawing to a close but it didn't have a confirmed release date. Beamdog have now finally released the game for sale, both on their website and Steam store.

Neverwinter Nights is one of the game of the games from BioWare's golden age, an era before EA stuck their greedy fingers into the company. It was originally released on 18 June 2002 and it in the following years it enjoyed its fair share of popularity, eventually becoming a cult classic down the road. Now it's been re-released by Beamdog with additional polishing and upgraded graphics.

Beamdog are company that was founded by Trent Oster who was also a co-founder of BioWare. They are focusing on publishing enhanced editions of older, classic titles such as Baldur's Gate series, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale.

Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition will cost players £15,49 ; €19,99 or $19,99. The game also has plethora of DLC that will amount to £17,64 ; €24,94 or $24,94. This day 1 DLC is what sets off some of the players and likely the reason behind many of the negative reviews on Steam. Speaking of which, 83% of the reviews have been positive so far, and it's still too early to conclude whether this is due to the Enhanced Edition being actually good or if it's just nostalgia doing its job.

One of the most important features Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition has is its backwards compatibility. It will work with all the save games, modules and player-created mods from the original game. Modding community played an integral role for the original Neverwinter Nights and this will undoubtedly be an important selling point for the Enhanced Edition.

Considering this is a re-release of a 16 year old game we're talking about, the system requirements will definitely not be an issue. Steam page claims you only need a 1 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM and 10 GB of free space.
