Machine Games have rolled out the final piece of DLC for The New Colossus which is the third episode of The Freedom Chronicles, branded The Deeds of Captain Wilkins. It will wrap up the season pass side stories.
For those unacquainted with the narrative and systems of The Freedom Chronicles, each of the stories revolves around an upgrade players could earn in The New Colossus' campaign.
The first episode, named The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe, had the sprint attack that could break through walls and quite literally break enemies apart.
The Diaries of Agent Silent Death was centered on stealth thanks to the crawl ability and The Deeds of Captain Wilkins is using extending robo-legs.
Episode 3 of The Freedom Chronicles is available now, and costs £7.99. While not pricey per se, it certainly doesn't bode well for the content when the first Steam review looks like this.
That said, the previous two episodes of The Freedom Chronicles weren't praiseworthy either. Their stories were short and barely worth the effort or time to play them. Some fans were hoping to see The Deeds of Captain Wilkins change this but this review might crush their dreams. If you're not a Season Pass owner, you might want to wait out for more player feedback, get it during a sale, or simply not at all. Your money, your choice.
If nothing else, the plot preview from the Steam page seems to be wacky enough, but serious at the same time, much like the setting of both The New Order and The New Colossus.
Once you're in the boots of Captain Gerald Wilkins, you will find yourself on the run from Nazis who have just nuked Manhattan, so this DLC's story is set before The New Colossus. Once in the clear, Captain Wilkins reunites with his old buddy and they set out on a mission to decommission a Sun Gun made by the Nazi wehrmachine.
