Epic Games had delay version 2.4.0 of Fortnite due to some issues that are 'taking [them] longer than expected to fix'. In order to fix the bugs that are causing some issues with in-game building, the devs are reverting to the building bar system that was present in V.2.2.0.
Epic Games is having some trouble handling Fortnite's latest build. Version 2.4.0 of Fortnite was due out yesterday but has been delayed in order to give the devs some more time to deal with the persistent issues.
"We hear your concerns regarding bugs that you are experiencing since V.2.3.0, especially those regarding building," said Epic. "It’s taking us longer than expected to fix these issues and we’re working through some major ones. If we’re unable to fix them today the v2.4.0 release will be delayed."
Because of these problems, Epic will revert some of its older building UI and systems to speed up the building process when version 2.4.0 is eventually released. Among other issues, players have had to deal with a bug that caused a different object to be built instead of the one they've selected.
To combat that, the devs will be reverting to the building bar system that was present in V.2.2.0. "We intend on finding a more permanent fix to make building and item selection feel more crisp in the future. We’ve also added some tools to help us better diagnose in-game issues when new bugs do arise" vowed Epic.
The building fix should launch along with 2.4.0 and some long term improvements are being looked at.
"We know it’s been frustrating for our players, but it’s a tough nut to crack and we need a bit more time than we want to make you wait for the other great fixes, features, and content we’ve got lined up. We figured the best thing we could do would be to restore it to the state it was in with 2.2.0, and take another shot at improving the feel and responsiveness of building in the near future."
Earlier this week Fortnite offered compensation to players affected by the latest problems that came after an update which added new locations and biomes. The compensation will take the form of 20 Battle Stars towards Battle Pass progression and 1600 Seasonal Gold to Save The World players.
