After polishing up their report feature, the Overwatch development team has seen an increased rate of player reports, as well as a decrease in abusive chat behaviour. Jeff Kaplan also talked about changes that are coming for Mercy and Hanzo. He touched on the topic of buffs for Mei and Symmetra.

Jeff from the Overwatch team took the opportunity to talk about the popular topics in the latest developer update. He kicked things off by recapping everything that has been going on with the report button and player toxicity.

Ever since the developer team made some updates to the report system, and added one to the console version of Overwatch, the rate of player reports has increased by 20 percent. At the same time, they noticed that the abusive chat present in competitive play has decreased by 17 percent.

Another popular issue in Overwatch is hero balancing. Jeff brought up a couple of heroes, but Mercy took center stage. Dr Ziegler has spent time on both ends of the competitive spectrum, but after the Ult switch that happened last year, she has become a must pick for every match. Kaplan said that they are still trying to balance the effects of Resurrect and make her "more manageable" while she's in Valkyrie mode.

Junkrat's concussion mine is about to get some damage fall-off. Currently, this killer mode of transportation has zero damage fall-off, so that's about to change, giving the Junkrat players a reason to be more accurate when throwing it.

Hanzo, Mei and Symmetra are also headed for some updates. Hanzo's scatter shot will be the first on the chopping block if the dev team fails to come up with a way to tweak it so it can't one-shot tanks anymore.

Mei and Symmetra are a bit fussy when it comes to buffs. "Mei is a hero we need to be very careful with," Jeff commented. "She can feel very oppressive to play against if she’s too powerful." Symmetra, on the other hand, still feels like a very situational hero who "doesn’t have enough usefulness across the board." I don't think we'll see any buffs for Mei and Symmetra in the near future.
