Metal Gear Survive's microtransactions won't be what you thought

Metal Gear Survive will, in fact, feature microtransactions, but the game will stay away from the pay to win model. For now. Metal Gear Survive's producer, Yuji Korekado, recently commented on the issue. In-game accessories will be fair game.

Metal Gear Survive will have microtransactions because money. With the game's beta out of the way, we can focus on the things that actually make us want to strangle someone. It's gotten quite chilly here in the AltChar tower, and all I have to keep me warm is the raging bonfire of gamer anger. It helps, plus there is a reason the two words rhyme.

In an attempt to diminish the all-encompassing flames, Metal Gear Survive's producer, Yuji Korekado, commented on the issue:

"There will not be loot boxes, and there will not be Pay-to-Win types of microtransactions. There will be things like the accessories in Metal Gear Online, and Forward Operating Base in MGSV: The Phantom Pain."

I don't think the gamers would be stupid enough to fall for the same trick twice but hey, we all make mistakes. Some are just more life-altering than others. Korekado also commented on the early confusion regarding what Metal Gear Survive would actually be, debunking all rumours that swirled around:

"Fans and gamers in general seemed to take Metal Gear Survive to be a continuation of the Metal Gear series, so I regret that we caused that confusion."

Even though it seems like the ugly microtransactions won't be rearing their head any time soon, I refuse to drop my guard. For now though, cosmetics all the way. Yaay. We'll have time to talk about this again on 20 February when Metal Gear Survive launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam).
