Bluehole recently shared more details about their upcoming fantasy Ascent: Infinite Realm. It's all about the airships and the weapons. The developer shared a list of airships and weapons, describing each one in as much detail as possible.
Encouraged by a successful show at G-Star 2017, Bluehole decided to share some more information about their upcoming game - Ascent: Infinite Realm. The new information serves to introduce you to the game's airships and weapons you'll get to (ab)use when A:IR drops sometime in 2018.
On the off chance you missed the G-Star show, A:IR is an online MMORPG based in a steampunk world. Players will use the airships to explore the game's floating lands, support their people's survival and engage in some sweet ship on ship showdowns.
As you progress, there's literally nowhere to go but up, which means the terrain and altitude become higher and tougher. As the air around you becomes ever thinner, your airships will be that much more ready for sudden attacks that can come from either your enemies or the in-game monsters.
The press release supplied a hefty collection of airships and weapons, and we're going to go through it together:
First up (hehe, up) - A:IRships:
- Nous Training Airship
This is your run of the mill beginner airship that you'll be able to use if you belong to the Nous. You'll obtain it by completing quests and use it in singleplayer. Don't expect you'll be reaching any significant altitudes with it.
- Ontari Training Airship
Everything you've just read applies to this one as well. The only difference is that the Ontari Training Airship can be crafted.
- Vulpin Airship
The Vulpin Airship functions in the same manner as the Ontari. The difference is in the ship's appearance. Different wing placement and colours will help you discern between the two.
- Single Vulpin / Ontari Assault Airship
A personal airship only available on the battlefield. Can be manned by up to two players. Its altitude is not limited, and it can move rapidly in straight lines.
- Multi-Passenger Vulpin / Ontari Assault Airship
The only airship on the battlefield and can accommodate up to five players. As you'd expect it's slow moving and does not turn quickly.
- Wind Sprinter
A racing ship with rapid movement speed and a high flying altitude. You can get this ship at end game. It can be used during World Quests.
- Black Ship / Merchant Ship
The Merchant Airship is a non-combat vessel, intended to help players explore the world and trade. The mysterious Black Ship is a special merchant ship that can only be used in specific instanced dungeons.
- Large-Scale Ship
The Large-Scale Ship can carry a total of 75 players. It acts as a transfer vessel to carry attacking players into the battlefield at Dragon Valley.
Once you get to the Battlefield of Dragon Valley, you'll have your first encounter with ground-based weaponry. Flame Mechs spray jets of fire all over the battlefield as Assault Mechs bombard the foe from the rear. These machines are also known as Vulcans and can be used for exploration and assault in hazardous regions.
You can use enhancements to increase the power of their attacks.
- Boardable Machine Gun
This "speed over bulk damage" gun can be mounted on airships and may only be used by allies.
- Boardable Cannon
Same deal as with its Machine Gun little sister: can be mounted and only allies can use it. The Cannon deals more damage pet hit.
- Boardable Flame Cannon
Shoots blasts of flames.
- Automatic Machine Gun
Operates similarly to its boardable counterpart, except it automatically fires on a target set by the Ship’s pilot.
Can be mounted on ships and uses curved projectiles to automatically attack a target designated by the Ship’s Captain.
Ascent: Infinite Realm doesn't have a set release date yet, but a beta is currently planned for Q1-2 2018. Here's a gallery:
