Konami announced that Metal Gear Survive will have a beta in January. The beta will be available to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. Everyone who takes part in the beta will receive three bonus items.
Metal Gear Survive will have a beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in January. PC has been omitted from the list of platforms, and that's always a good sign. Metal Gear fans have been somewhat sceptical of the upcoming title, as it's the the first entry to the series since Hideo Kojima left Konami.
The sceptical fans who own a PS4 or an Xbox One will be given an opportunity "to jump into co-op mode to build, defend, and fight alongside friends online". No additional information had been given, and again, that's always a good thing.
The beta will go on from 18 until 21 January, and those who take part in it will be rewarded with some bonus items once Metal Gear Survive drops on 20 February, 2018.
'The beta gift basket' will include: a FOXHOUND name plate, a Metal Gear REX head accessory, and a bandana. It is unclear whether these items will be obtainable once the beta is finished. Also, there is no way of knowing if the PC population will ever be able to get their delicate hands on the beta items.
Konami also shared a video (embedded above) that opens with producer Yuji Korekado giving us an overview of the game. The video then goes on to explain a little bit of the game's story and the function of the Base Camp in both single-player and co-op.
After the main character is sent though the portal, he'll have to hunt his food and defend his shelter. Metal Gear Survive also features crafting. In order to do that, you'll need materials and recipes. Yuji Korekado closes out the video by announcing the beta.
