Well the title pretty much says it all but here’s the lowdown anyway - The Elder Scrolls online is free from November 30th to December 6th for PC, Mac and Playstation 4 players. So, if you’re looking to give it a whirl and still haven’t been convinced it’s worth shelling out for, here’s your chance you cheapskate.

The freebie week marks the game’s milestone of racking up 10 million visiting adventurers in Tamriel. Note that PlayStation 4 users will require PSPlus membership to download and play the game, whereas PC and Mac users can download it via The Elder Scrolls Online official site or Steam.

Bethesda promises “massive giveaways” in form of sweepstakes and an in-game dungeon event. Prizes range from you, or one of your characters, being recreated as an in-game NPC, every in-game collectible ever available for sale in the Crown Store to the grand prize - a plus one trip to PAX East 2018. Apparently, there are also 299 “consolation” prizes: “ESO t-shirts and plushies, consoles, PCs, Crown Packs, loads of in-game items, and more.”

Note that new accounts will receive 500 free crowns as a start-up gift and if you’ve already taken part in The Elder Scrolls free play events, your characters will be waiting. The game client is some 80GB in size, so you may want to make sure you have the space. Some restrictions may apply so if you’re interested in trying your luck, you may want to check the terms and conditions in more detail on The Elder Scrolls Online website.
